Some people hate ’em, and some people love ’em, and I definitely fall into the latter category due to the serious attention that they bring to communities in need of a little or a lot of help…
About a year ago Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt designed and launched a sparkly line of jewelry to support a charity that Angelia helped start, the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.
The Education Partnership is a uniter of many groups working to improve education for children in Haiti, Darfur, Iraq, New Orleans, and elsewhere. It seeks to bring the organizations together and rally resources (aka fundraise) for all of them in partnership. A very worth cause, considering there are many nonprofits with similar goals that are competing for the same funding.
The choice of snakes may at first appear odd, but it seems it’s the Judeo-Christian culture which demonizes snakes, while other societies around the world view them as symbols of protection, fertility, and life.
The jewelry line is sold exclusively at Asprey of London, and all proceeds go to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. With the gifts starting at about $500, this charity endeavor is clearly not meant for the Average Joe or Jane or Meg, but it is still fun to window shop. My favorites are the cute black and emerald cuff links and the rose gold children’s bracelet above, but the twist bangle below caught my eye because it reminded me of the Duchess of Windsor’s Cartier cheetah bracelet that Sotheby’s will be auctioning off shortly (thank this morning’s Today show for that intel). That slinky cheetah… it’s like the grand princess of all slap bracelets!

The real heroes and heroines of this project.
