Mud Duds

With a weekend ahead of pumpkin carving, football tailgating, and walking through the leaves over to Beacon Hill for its spooky Halloween, I wish I had some of these warm fall classics in my closet. They are, kind of surprisingly, made by a company (1) widely known for its rapper following, and (2) long acknowledged in academic circles for its Corporate Social Responsibility and innovative partnership with the powerful nonprofit CityYear. None other than Timberland.

Most of the items above are from the Earthkeeper line and are made out of recycled materials. The exceptions are the grey sweater (soft sheep’s wool – pretty eco-friendly), bomber jacket (so cool I had to include it, but you can get a way better fake and animal-friendly one for about $37 at a cheesy store in your neck of the woods – shout out to Erin for my killer 30th bday present), and Amherst boat shoes (school spirit).

While one of my most favorite people in the world, my mom’s dad, lived in boat shoes all year round, I’m not quite sure they are for me. That said, J. Crew sure is into them and maybe you are too. Design your own at Timberland, and then get out there and dirty them up this weekend. Happy Friday!
