The Congo for Barneys

I am practically about to ditch my office and walk over to Copley right now. My amazing friend Meg noticed my love (and more love) for FEED Projects, and pointed me to a collaboration between one of FEED’s founder’s clothing design company, Lauren Pierce Atelier, and Barneys New York.

Lauren Pierce has created a design-your-own soft and comfortable-looking dress line for the sometimes inaccessibly hip department store. The pretty frocks are made with fabric created by and supporting artisans in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Each dress comes with a personalized label with your name and the name of the woman who hand dyed the fabric you selected. The women are actually part of the same organization that Kate Spade supports with the bangle I posted about – Women for Women International.

I might go window shopping to dream about making a blue and red long-sleeve one to wear with tights and heels this winter. Check out the explanatory notes and video at Barneys and take the steps below for someone you love!
