The Pottery Barn Dilemma


Yesterday a friend who has been doing some work on her house recently posted on facebook, “I’m considering liking Pottery Barn on facebook. Does that make me a yuppie?” That brought me right back to a great episode of Friends that, in a Seinfeld-esque way, captured a 1990s moment. Remember this?

But today Pottery Barn is forgiven for all its matching mass produced yuppified furniture, because (a) shhh! I secretly really like some of it and would take it home if I could, and (b) they’ve got a great new holiday gift that gives half of the proceeds to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I can’t wait to pick up some of these paperwhite candles for the Christmas mantle.
