I recently discovered a shop on Etsy that gives 20% of its proceeds to charity. REtroCYCLEd – Vintage Fashion, Kitchen & Decor. So fun and so affordable!

I am dying for that Saltines container. My parents have one in the house I grew up in, and it’d be a fun kitchen cousin for a large scale Campbell’s soup can that serves as an end table in our living room (which my grandmother gave to my mom when she went off to Gettysburg College in 1968). And the glass milk bottle? I have one just like it and it’s perfect for wildflowers.

They’ve also got hip old clothes. Very dangerous.

I got in touch with the boutique owner, Allison, to learn more about their donations. She writes… “We got started on Etsy in part due to inheriting a number of beautiful, mint condition vintage purses from my husband’s grandmother, who died of cancer. We donated every net penny of those sales to the American Cancer Society. We also donate to ALS TDI, an ALS research foundation, in honor of one of my husband’s professors who was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago. Other non-profits we donate to regularly include World Wildlife Fund, public radio, Architecture for Humanity and My World, which was started by a friend of mine and arranges for trips up Kilamanjaro to local children who would otherwise never get the chance.” They are also donors for charity events for DC’s EcoWomen and NC’s Joyful Noise Community Music Center, and volunteer for Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue. Wow!
